Month maintenance info : How to waterproof your Boat Cover |
As Boat Covers get older they lose their properties of sealing mainly because of the aggression of UV and pollution. Then it lets humidity getting through and soak saddlery.
In order to solve this problem, use our Star brite Waterproofing with PTEF!
Once your cover is cleaned with Boat Cover Cleaner ref 92122, spray on Waterproofing with PTEF in order to build a real protection against humidity, bird drops and other stainings. Just spray on on a clean and dry surface and let dry for 6 hours! |

ASTUCE 1 |
| When you have to use Star brite Hull Cleaner, teak Brightener or any \"agressive\" product, you should always wet the surrounding surface with water first. This way if the material gets on the surface it is diluted immediately and then no harm can come and you have plenty time to wash off ! |

ASTUCE 2 |
My God!!
I filled up my water tank with Diesel fuel !!!
What could I do ???
I suggest using deck cleaner to remove the diesel film. Then follow-up with Aqua Clean to remove any smell and germs or anything left in tank. Need to flush thoroughly after using each product. Deck cleaner is a great emulsifier. |

For the hull : 2 possible methods |
If you have a little time available:
1/ Clean with the Hull Cleaner. You just need to apply it with a sponge (preferably wearing gloves), leave it to work for two minutes then rinse well with water. It is an excellent detergent for tannin stains (yellow or brown), for rust or the line of scum at the water-line.
After drying, the hull will be slightly matt. You should then see whether the surface has been oxidised, become floury or whether the colours have really faded. Important: matt does not mean faded!
2/ If the surface is oxidised, matt or the colours faded, apply the Star brite Fiberglass Color Restorer. This product deoxidises, cleans in depth and revives the tints. However it is not too abrasive. Preferably apply the product with a cotton polishing cloth, wait for a slight veil to form then polish, still using a cotton cloth.
3/ Finally apply our PTEF® Premium Polish in the same way as the Restorer to obtain a long lasting shine and protection - at least throughout the season. This product prevents stains and salts adhering to the surface and provides great resistance to UV.
If possible wait 4-5 days between applying the Restorer and the Premium Polish. If this isn't possible it is not of great importance.
If you haven't much time to spare or if your hull is in good condition, you only need to carry out steps 1/ and 3/ or apply our Marine Polish which will carry out the 2 operations in one go but will not last as long as a Premium Polish. This polish is applied in the same way as the other two products. |

For the windshield |
Scratches are eliminated or reduced with "Plastic Scratch Remover". Apply with a cotton polishing cloth rubbing lightly, wait until a slight veil forms and polish.
If you also need to restore clarity, use "Plastic Polish Restorer" in the same way. |

|
For the deck (with the exeption of teak) |
| The best thing is to use Non Skid Deck Cleaner, a special cleaner for non-slip decks. It cleans and gives a shine at the same time. This product actually acts deep down, without the need for rubbing and will be very effective on diamond points or any anti-slip surface. Simply spread the product on the surface to be treated (deck + cockpit), leave to work for 2 min, mop lightly with the deck mop or a soft brush and then rinse with plenty of water. |
|
|
For everyday maintenance |
Keep handy a bottle of multi-use detergent, Black Streak Remover, which is very effective for removing black streaks encrusted in the gelcoat and for a multitude of other purposes such as removal of smoke marks at the exhaust outlet, gentle cleaning of fenders and for a thousand other things. Simply spray on the product, let it work for 2 min, rub gently with a soft brush and rinse well. There is no need to use a great deal of product at once!
You can also keep on board a bottle of Boat Wash for general cleaning e.g. after a trip out, just to de-salt and clean up the boat. 2-3 caps of Boat Wash in a bucket of fresh or sea water will do the job.
If you have problems with mouldy patches, the Mildew Stain Remover is very effective and is able to kill the germs which avoids them reappearing a few days later!
For upholstery, Vinyl Shampoo is very effective. If the cushions are very dirty and need renovation, Vinyl Cleaner & Polish will be perfect. |
